I can remember my mother dying in my arms. We were laying back on a day couch, her thin body on top of mine- not warm… I was cradling her, she was hooked up to a screen, black screen, that beat in time with her heart. Below it was a counter, counting every last second of every final minute of her life. I could hear her breathing start to gurgle, and I looked down into her face.
